Engagement and Impact policy deep dive

Register your interest in co-developing REF 2029 policy

Please register your interest in contributing to the co-development of the REF 2029 Engagement and Impact (E&I) policy and guidance.  This event will take place in London on two full days over 5 to 6 June 2025.

This is likely to cover topics including, but not limited to:

  • the definition of engagement and its role in the assessment framework
  • the definition of rigour
  • the content and weighting of disciplinary statements
  • the number of case studies required

Background

For REF 2029 we are developing the policy framework with engagement and collaboration throughout the process. We will harness stakeholder perspectives to help us analyse different policy options.

The REF 2029 Initial decisions set out the ambitions for REF 2029, which were broadly supported in responses to Initial decisions consultation. There are several associated policy decisions that will help ensure that the exercise remains robust, the associated burden for the sector remains proportionate and that REF 2029 creates positive incentives in the sector.
